Circular Economy, Material and Resource Efficiency

We are always developing our production and products further in order to lower the environmental impact. Circular economy and material and resource efficiency have a key role in achieving this objective. We have, for example, developed completely new methods for effectively recycling insulation waste in Finland, and implemented various measures for utilizing waste heat from production. Our products utilize recycled materials and resource efficient solutions, which can be used to reduce the carbon footprint of structures.

MATERIAL EFFICIENT SOLUTIONS

By optimizing the use of materials, we can have a significant impact on the carbon footprint of construction. With Finnfoam’s solutions, the amount of construction materials needed is reduced.

FF-RECYcling BAGS – TRAILBLAZER IN RECYCLING

Finnfoam launched the first recycling system for plastic insulation waste in Finland. FF- Recycling bags can used to collect plastic insulation waste at construction sites and hardware stores, and the collected waste is reused as material in our plant in Salo.

PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS

We use recycled insulation waste to manufacture new products. Recycled EPS plastic insulation material is used in the production of the new ceramic-based FF-SILENT material as crushed filler. Recycled FF-PIR material is reutilized in the production of our FF-FRAME products, among other things.

SOLVENT-BASED RECYCLING OF POLYSTYRENE

Finnfoam is building a facility designed for chemically recycling polystyrene in Salo, where used and even dirty expanded plastic insulation can be recycled in an energy efficient and cost-effective manner to be used as raw material for insulation products. Finnfoam has sought to patent the recycling process and the environmentally friendly solvent used during it.
